Leaf and Stem: Macerated leaves and stems are used as an anti pruritic and for treating eczema, by the Guyana Patamona. Leaves and stems are boiled with water, allowed to cool, then drunk as an emetic, by the Guyana Patamona. Leaves and stems are boiled with water and used for washing the skin as a treatment for chicken pox, and a pinch of table salt added to the water, which is used as a treatment for measles, by the Guyana Patamona.

Leaf: Macerated leaves are used to remedy severe diarrhea in Guyana (Archer 2286 (US), coll. Aruka River, NorthWest District, Guyana).
